Background – F, 27, live in the actual desert and it is summer, so I can end up super dry. My skin is combination. My forehead tends to be extremely oily and so are my neck, but everywhere else tends to be dry.
So, for the last few months, I have been using Mad Hippie’s Triple C night cream and their eye cream. I have finally gotten near the end of both of these and I may want to try something new. The eye cream, personally, I haven’t felt has done much for me. I’m not trying to fix dark circles. I’m trying to deal with a lot of redness and puffiness. I’ve decided I’d like to try something new there. For the moisturizer, I’m neither impressed nor upset with it. I’ll list my pros and cons for the moisturizer.
Pros:
Literally the only product that says “use a pea sized amount” and actually means that which means it lasts for months.
It does moisturize nicely, but I think it makes better for winter than summer.
It’s a thick cream that absorbs nicely. I’m a fan of thicker creams, personally. Especially the night creams.
Easily obtained. Multiple places near me carry it, so I never have to order online if I need to get it.
Cons:
Cost. It isn’t awful, but there’s never any sales on these products which I have a hard time enjoying products that don’t do any sales.
It seems to be melting a bit during the summer despite being stored in a dark, enclosed place in the bathroom.
Just not thrilled for the price, honestly, if that makes sense?
Anyways, my major issues that I deal with are old acne scars/discoloration and being extremely dry with the dry desert heat. Since I don’t work currently or go out much, my acne is at a minimum thankfully, so those two are my biggest issues.
Here are some things I have in my current arsenal:
WASHES:
TO’s Squalene Cleanser
Ceraphil’s oil free Dermacontrol foam wash (I hate this one. I’m not a fan of foam at all.)
Serums:
Revolution’s Skincare Super Serum with 15% Niacinamide (was recommended via a beauty site)
TO’s Niacinamide + Zinc
DermaE Vitamin C serum
DermaE Acne Control serum
TO’s Retinol in Squalene (hate it – too oily)
L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Derm Intensives Night Serum, 0.3% Pure Retino
Moisturizers/Creams:
Mad Hippie Triple C night cream
Mad hippie eye cream
TO’s Natural Moisturizers + HA
Azelaic Acid Suspension
Ceraphil AM moisturizer with SPF
Clinique Dramatically Different Jelly
Toners:
TO’s Glyconic Acid
Random other stuff:
TO’s AHA/BHA peel
Laneige lip sleeping mask
Mad hippie 2 minute polishing mask
Dermalogica daily microfoliant
So, that’s it. I don’t mind investing in Skincare. I am just wondering if anyone has any recommendations.
